On July 13, 2006, P&G held a ground breaking ceremony for its Plant Expansion and Community Landscaping Program Launch in Tongzhou, an eastern district of Beijing.  Weber Shandwick worked with P&G to ensure that the plant expansion was conducted in the spirit of Tongzhou’s city development plans.

On July 13, P&G held a ground breaking ceremony for its Plant Expansion and Community Landscaping Program Launch in Tongzhou, an eastern district of Beijing.  Weber Shandwick worked with P&G to ensure that the plant expansion was conducted in the spirit of Tongzhou’s city development plans.

At the ceremony, a series of community programs including landscaping and neighborhood beautification were officially launched. The landscaping programs are expected to contribute to views around the historic Grand Canal. P&G employees also contributed to creating a meaningful ceremony, demonstrating their commitment to the Tongzhou community.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, including Mr. Liang Wei, general-secretary of Tongzhou, Mr. Deng Naiping, director of Tongzhou, and Mr. Zhang Shusen, executive deputy director of Tongzhou.

Deputy director Zhang of Tongzhou congratulated P&G on the plant expansion and community landscaping programs. Moreover, he added that the government will strongly support P&G and its business growth as well as P&G’s future community programs.  Noting the success of P&G’s landscape improvement program, the officials hope that P&G continue to play an active role in the community to help build a sustainable Tongzhou.

Through these activities, the P&G Tongzhou plant established an admirable model for integration and co-operation between businesses and their surrounding communities. Moreover, P&G successfully strengthened communications with different levels of local government officials and positioned itself as a responsible corporate citizen.
