In August, Flextronics, a leading electronics manufacturer, participated in the popular weekly reality, TV job-show, Absolute Challenge. Broadcasted on CCTV-2, the business news channel of the China Central Television Network, the show is modeled on the hit US reality show The Apprentice. Three candidates, who are pre-selected from more than 100 potentials after preliminary interviews conducted by CCTV and the recruiting company, competed for the prize of a dream job, in this case, courtesy of Flextronics. The candidates then participated in a series of tasks and final round of interviews on national TV.
Weber Shandwick in Beijing recommended Flextronics to participate in this show as part of its 360 degree PR and marketing strategy to boost Flextronics’ visibility throughout China and communicate its recruitment message effectively. A majority of the show was filmed in Zhuhai, where Flextronics operates its largest site in China. Flextronics is currently on an intense recruitment drive to support its growing business in China and through similar efforts like this, hopes to re-amplify Flextronics’ stature as a world-class Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company, and one of China’s employers of choice.
Flextronics is a leading Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company that offers complete design, engineering, and manufacturing services to aerospace, automotive, computing, consumer digital, industrial, infrastructure, medical and mobile OEM customers.
