Weber Shandwick’s tech team, that represents Microsoft’s Mobile and Embedded Devices Division (MED) together with the consumer team in Beijing joined together to successfully launch the Dopod 710 in Beijing on May 23.The new Dopod 710 is an ultra-thin smartphone that runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 software.

To create a visually attractive event and embody the theme "free and convenient lifestyle", the event was held beside the swimming pool of the Palm Springs International Club. Key features at the event were the Windows Mobile and Dopod logos floating on the water surface, an elegant water dance by a synchronized swimming team as the opening performance, and for the unveiling moment, three Dopod 710 models appeared on the surface of the water. 

The keynote speakers at the event were David Lee, president and CEO of Dopod Communications Corp., and Paul Hsu, business group director of Microsoft MED China. They spoke on the importance of the Dopod 710 launch in Chinaand Windows Mobile’s advantages and momentum in the market. Zhang Wei, Microsoft mobile solution technical specialist, demonstrated the powerful productivity and entertainment capabilities available in Windows Mobile 5.0 with the new Dopod 710, which drew significant media interest during the event.

The event attracted 41 journalists from 40 key Chinese publications. Coverage has all been positive, painting both brands in a positive light.

David Lee expressed that this event was the best launch event he had ever attended.
