Chinese Media and Tour Operators Arrive on the Shores of the Bahamas
On behalf of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, the Beijing office of Weber Shandwick recently organized the first familiarity trip to the Bahamas for Chinese media and tour operators.
The purpose of the trip was twofold: to introduce the location to important Chinese media to raise the profile of the Bahamas as a premier destination for Chinese tourists; and, to engage key Chinese tour operators in first-hand experience of the Bahamas with the range of activities and attractions the islands offer. The trip also provided an opportunity for media and tour operators to establish relationships with key decision makers in the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and local tour operators.
While on the islands, some of the highlights included visiting Grand Bahama, where the group swam with dolphins, and Harbour Island, one of the oldest towns in the Bahamas which was ranked in 2005 as "The Best Island in the Caribbean" by Travel & Leisure magazine. The group also attended the grand opening of the two-month long Bahamian Junkanoo Summer Festival.
The trip was a success and feedback from media and tour operators was positive; many said the tour provided great overall insight into the Bahamas as a desirable holiday destination.
