On 10 January, Weber Shandwick in Shanghai welcomed 2006 and the Chinese New Year of the Dog with sister agencies GolinHarris, Powell Tate and Octagon at a dinner party. The evening was held at Shikumen Bistro, a newly opened French restaurant in the hip Shanghai district of Xin Tian Di.
The 2006 New Year Party was timed to coincide with Global CEO Harris Diamond’s trip to China, where he also visited Beijing. Harris was joined by Andy Polansky, Global President, and Andrew Pirie, President, Asia Pacific.
The cocktail party in the cigar lounge kicked of the evening with a slide show of collated case studies from all four brands. The show gave a snapshot of all the fantastic campaigns that have been completed in Shanghai in 2005, and made those present feel proud about the fruit of their hard work. Harris Diamond toasted the success of Weber Shandwick in one of its fastest growing markets.
Dinner followed in the main dining room, punctuated by games, dance performances and lucky draw raffles. The top prize for the raffle was RMB 1,000 (approx. USD 123) with other chances to win RMB 500 and 250. All members of staff received a "hong bao" (red envelope with money inside) as is the tradition at Chinese New Year.
Staff left the party feeling pleased about 2005 and enthusiastic about the exciting projects ahead in 2006.
