Alan Hong
Associate Director

Alan Hong joined Weber Shandwick in China in 2002 as associate director of the corporate and consumer group, servicing clients such as Siemens, CCTV AD Competition, Degussa, Changan Ford (a Ford Motor joint venture in China) and Volkswagen. Alan has extensive experience in corporate communications, media relations, event management and strategic counseling.

At Weber Shandwick, Hong works closely with David Liu, managing director, Weber Shandwick Beijing, to manage the corporate team and grow the business. He also plays a major role in generating new business in the automotive and aviation industry sector. Alan maintains strong and friendly relations with the Chinese press, and his knowledge of the national media scene enables the agency to strategically position client messages to key audiences.

Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Hong was with Ketchum Newscan-Beijing, leading the agency’s corporate team as senior account manager and serving clients such as General Motors, Honeywell, Lions Clubs, Million Dollar Roundtable, De Beers and Mercedes Benz.

Before Ketchum Newscan, Hong worked in Ruder-Finn Public Relations for three and half years, serving clients such as General Motors, Cadbury, Canadian Airlines and Motorola.

Hong holds a bachelor’s degree in Economic Management from the Beijing Second Institute of Foreign Languages.
